Crucifixion

The central panel of the Isenheim Alterpiece, by Grünewald:

On the left is Mary and the disciple John.  On the right is John the Baptist (yes, he’s actually dead according to the timeline, but that is beside the point).  

The letters beside him read: “He must increase, and I must decrease.”

Amazing.
